How durable are the Garden Butterflies in outdoor conditions?

Very durable, the originals I created still look amazing after 7 years outdoors. Mine get full sun from first thing in the morning to noon in the central California sun. They have withstood our temperature swings from 30 degrees to 110 and are out in full rain in all these 7 years.  I continue to make these for you the same way I made these for my wife 8 years ago!

What materials are used to make the Garden Butterflies?

Hand carved wooden dowels and recycled micro-perforated aluminum sheets. These sheets are heavy duty used in the installation of speakers.

How are the Garden Butterflies mounted in the garden?

I use small nails thru the holes in the wings but you could also hang these from  those same holes

How long does it take to create a custom order?

Yes and that's why I first created them.

Is each butterfly unique?

These are handcrafted by myself, I start with a dowel for the body and hand carve a head thorax and tapered body. I then use a pattern to cut 4 wings from the sheets of aluminum, create a slot thru the thorax and epoxy all 4 wings and thorax together.  I then use beading pins with heads to finish my whimsical creations as antennas also using epoxy.  These almost finished butterflies are then sprayed with enamel outdoor paint making sure the entire creation is sealed safely inside this durable shell. In short, these are unique but similar enough to look like a family of butterflies.
